I also took a photo of this plant at the weekend. And as I saw it in a botanic garden it has a label (#JacobinDay habits are hard to break).

Leiden may not be high on many tourism lists but I highly recommend it for a long weekend away: windmills, museums, canals, botanical garden, waterside cafés… all very walkable.

So if you were wondering if the Medieval Women exhibition @britishlibrary.bsky.social is worth your time, the answer is a resounding Yes! And maybe more time than you were expecting. A picture from one of the many glorious exhibits, on the uses of mugwort (for the #JacobinDay vibes).

While I don’t have a photo of the bull, I do have this:
Bronze sculpture of a girl standing definitely against an unseen foe. She wears a dress (bronze) and has her hands on her hips. She is on fake grass, with two inset lights in the ground in front of her, presumably to light her when it is dark. Modern buildings are in the background. It is a copy of the Fearless Girl sculpture that was first installed on Broadway, facing down a Charging Bull sculpture.
