the most impactful thing you can do is ignore him and everything he touches. giving him attention is what keeps him relevant. he'll do anything to stay in your brain and to invade your life

Ubuntu is ideal. I've tried other stuff and keep coming back to it. I'm not excited to install every package known to man or wrestle with networking drivers. It tends to just work and have everything.
