Also Americans have currently given negative reviews on my games, but a Japanese vtuber loved 1 of my games. Keep foreign players in mind as they could be your true target audience. You'll never know until you try

There's still hope, 1 thing that can make a difference. People are also born every year. Some kid might find your game as their 1st. The past 2 generations might not care currently, but the next 2 might.

Yeah unfortunately same thoughts here. Gets harder every year as more games are released. The quality & gameplay minimum for a player to have fun has also gone up. Art styles are all looking the same. It's rough out there. If you're selling for money not great, for fun though: keep going!

My point being I agree game dev is hard. It requires so much knowledge, skill, & talents just to make simple demos. A full game worth selling & playing is even harder to finish. I love games so I push through financial struggles just to make some small amounts of progress because I enjoy the journey

We self publish as we like to do things the hard way for some reason (money & thrill of it 🤣) Mid last year we changed our game dev mindset & stopped thinking all ideas were good enough to make & sell. Now we try our best to make games more fun before coming up with a full story (duh, noobs 😅)

My Company TnT Gamez LLC is a good example of a struggling studio. From the start we were financially broke & continue to be. I work non stop because players demand better games (& they should, our mobile versions were not good enough for PC) Sounds stupid but mobile & friend reviews were positive

I kept him updated with screenshots too, but he didn't notice until after texturing. Luckily it's a model made in a couple hours for both. No big deal. Small size mods & changes

Haha oh yeah very true. I had a client in the past that wanted a thick bomb usually dropped from bomber planes. . . Came back and said he actually wanted a thin missile fired from a jet, like dude seriously after I'm finished?! XD

That makes sense, thank you for taking the time to respond. I agree with your reasons.

Ahh gotcha, that also applies as my 1st client works were almost PS1/2 quality. I sort my portfolio by date made as a way of gauging my progress. I've heard deleting older works is a thing. What if I'm capable of AA quality models too? Is it common for small portfolios to be used per job?
February 19, 2025 at 4:09 AM
Hmm. . . My portfolio might look suspicious but honest I made everything myself, it's just my ADHD / different clients on various projects that drive my art works in random directions 😂

When family, friends, & pets start dying around you "passed" feels less painful to say. I didn't care much about the different words, but 2020+ changed things for me

Idk getting feedback for me has been really hard. Social media is mostly scroll by, like, & dev chat. Game reviews are filled with generic google ideas & personal preference. All feedback is taken & considered where it makes sense. Not sure how I can improve my online presence yet

I've been working on NDR for loosely around 8 years. Negative reviews on 1st release made me completely change how I develop.

Business: Steam probably wouldn't make a difference in sales unless randomly player reviews / purchases increased.

Personal: most improvements would be epic for modern PC

I keep feeling tempted to remake my game Neon D-Fence Remastered (which is mostly a complete game now) in Godot 4.3 from Godot 2.6. I'd potentially gain a more stable fps & open the door for an easier level editor, but might double game install size. . . Idk maybe another time 😅

Thank you for suggestion I'll check it out :)

Luckily it's not my phone but a family member's phone, but still I have to make this thing safe to use 😅

2258. . . Dang this has to be the dumbest thing I've been through, and I've been through a lot of dumb things Lol
