It's about time I added some Anthropology over here! My friend Ivy has been a podcaster for many years. I have listened to each of her podcasts, and always enjoyed her storytelling, topics and creativity. We talked a few times over social media, and became friends, finding we had quite a bit in common. One of the interests we shared was Anthropology.

I saw this trend going around where one asks AI to create themselves as a doll with accessories. The idea is cool, but I haven’t been a supporter of AI at all. I had seen some other artists take on the trend themselves, with really awesome results, so I wanted to give it a go! I don’t know why, but I had the hardest time coming up with an outfit… it probably doesn’t help that I am not great with drawing clothes.

Finally finished this little seal! I really enjoyed playing with wet on wet for the background. I definitely want to keep exploring with watercolors, and see what else I can create with them. I’ve been feeling the creative spark again, so I need to take advantage of it while it is here right?

A new drawing! I realized I have kind of been doing a collection of women who inspire me! I started this piece yesterday, and thought I was at an ok place with it, but knew I was going to want to keep playing with it. I am very glad I did because it looks so much better now! Not an exact likeness, but I am pretty happy with it!

I have done one drawing so far this year. And with the realization that I don’t need to create art for the purpose of making money, I think some part of me, put up this block telling me that I don’t get to be an artist anymore. I started reading The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, and I see myself so much in his book and his description of the “amateur”.

How many false starts does one get in life? I actually don’t think there is a limit – the limit does not exist – and should it? I guess as long as we are still trying, and trying NEW things. They say that is the definition of insanity right, trying the same thing the same way and expecting different results. So here I am again, but what has changed?

I actually did a drawing! And it has a background! And I wrote a little story! Enjoy! It was a clear and calm night, the sea breeze was warm and the moonlight was bright. It was a perfect night for selkies to come ashore.Laughter could be heard on the air as the group of selkies enjoyed getting to stretch their legs, having shed their skins.
