Will we have to go back to written exams in response to genAI, asks @thetimes.com. Our School did so before the panicked student anecdote at the beginning of this article.

J, Murph and Lou in the midst of a superb gig at Barrowlands last night. Played the whole of Without A Sound (which sounded great with the classic lineup) and then a bunch of greatest hits. @dinosaurjr.com #loud

It is the St Andrews film festival this weekend, and you might enjoy joining me and a film studio chief scientist talking about AI in the creative industries. I am already fully stocked with Arnie one liners, but please suggest other suitable films to drop into the chat sands-iff.com/portfolio-it...

I can't remember much but I do still have the t-shirt. Those days were very exciting as I had just moved from Singapore and it was a novelty both to be able to see cool bands and to not be told to sit down by police (standing up or dancing at concerts was considered very naughty).

Happy new year! 🧧 🧨 🐍

Celebrating with home-made kueh tart from Singapore, factory-made love letters from the Chinese supermarket in Dundee, and new red socks from M&S.

Feeling a bit homesick this new year's eve, so tried asking Deepseek about Singapore. It told me that Singapore is in China. Which is something that I heard more than once when we lived in the US. So perhaps Deepseek is more American than you think.

I confess that I don't know enough about the use cases and requirements for AP vs AT to know if this is a fair comparison. I found this at atproto.com/guides/faq but the merging data isn't taken into account by this 1m self-hosted edge case.

Yes I never quite understood it. Here is one I saw in Dundee in 2016 (excuse poor quality but I think I took it from the bus)

When I was growing up there was no notion of data protection. NRIC numbers were used everywhere. I seem to remember they were even printed in the newspaper. But then the PDPA came in and you started to see signs like this. It would be a shame to regress.
