...how many times can a man turn his head,
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Bees will take their nutrients from anything which has sugar and moisture. Feeding them watermelon if conditions are tough is a good idea because it’s got plenty of fructose and moisture! The 2024 photo and information is from Heather Harvey, a park ranger with the National Park Service.

Having a garden is an opportunity to create a mini ecosystem in your neighborhood, we can all make a small difference that brings back biodiversity for pollinators and birds, these ecosystems have a benefit on human health and environment.

Something we often forget. Not raking leaves improves soil health by allowing them to decompose and return nutrients to the ground, while also creating a natural habitat for wildlife.

Looking for native flowers that can take the heat? These wildflowers are all lovely additions to the landscape and don’t mind hot Florida summers.

French naval officer, oceanographer, inventor, filmmaker and author Jacques-Yves Cousteau was born on this day in 1910. His words still echo today. (Although for the life of me, why didn't the powers that be make World Ocean Day today??)

Birds are nature’s messengers, and they're broadcasting loud and clear: They are already experiencing the devastating impacts of climate change and habitat loss, and these dangers will only grow over time.

Feed the birds - GO NATIVE!

I still think this was a horrible crime.
From the NYT:
"One of the most striking images in the document is a picture of a box of top secret national security documents that in 2021 had spilled on the floor of a Mar-a-Lago storage room accessible to many of the resort’s employees."

Many countries around the world either label GMOs or ban GMO crop cultivation altogether. Don't be Monsanto's lab rat.

Plant More Trees and preserve as many mature trees as possible, as their shade and the actual cooling of the air due to their transpiration is especially important in these hot summers. As Tallamy & Darke state in their book, the effect is additive as more people add trees to their properties.

Got a pool? You can help wildlife get out using a "frog log" or something similar that gives animals a way out. Wildlife found in obvious distress or with any injuries should still brought to a rehabilitator to evaluate! Help wildlife today by taking these little steps to keep them safe.

From IFAS: This yard looks pretty, but not Florida-Friendly - it's too hot! Living turf, shrubs, trees and mulch are preferred as they help cool the environment.
