I enjoy your insightful Eldritch gibberings from the outer-reaches of the void. Always good.

"L'Inferno" (1911).

I really hope your correct on that. I'd hate to think del Toro was misstepping here, especially after being so vocal about pushing back against CGI and AI as of late.

It is worth the time, but I'm not sure it's what I had hoped it would be. Maybe, at least, this finally gets us closer to "At the Mountains of Madness"? A lot of what he did with his sets here would be more fitting for that project.

It suffers from "been there, done that". Contrast the visuals of the sets here with the recent "Nosferatu" and tell me which feels better visually. Lets not even talk about the Marvel-esque cgi action scenes.

Negatives aside, the actors are all fine, especially the always wonderful Mia Goth.

Also, when it comes down to it, no matter how much of the del Toro magic is on display, this is yet another of the many versions of Frankenstein out there, & it doesn't have all that much different to say. It's about the showing, and the showing is lacking in key places for me, as I've already said.

They look stagey and fake at times and a bit just TOO MUCH. Some of the worst on-set Hammer interiors look better to me, and more convincing. del Toros goes a bit too fantasy with his interiors here to the point where shit looked like "Lord of the Rings". It took me out of the films at times.

The "cgi matte painting" for the skies and mountain ranges are not the problem. His outdoor visuals actually look great as far as digital stuff in this production goes. It's his interiors, and how he lit a lot of them that's the problem for me.
