Not sure I'm ready for another platform but let's see.
Theme park play research these days (yup, Disney).
tltaylor.com (links to most of my work, inc books, that are OA) & instagram.com/ybikapix (for the fun stuff!)
yup seems so! (feels like that history is tied to the earlier "software studies" stuff where deep dives into a system was seen as important.)

It's been fun to venture into a very different domain and at moments reminds me of the earliest days of game studies. This symposium happens at the end of the big theme park industry convention. A little like when us academics started turning up at GDC back in the day ;)

Interesting reflection and seems deeply tied to discipline/method. Ethnographers are often doing single fieldsite books :)

Hi5s to the team who pulled it off. Like so many in that community who learned to craft and make costumes and make experiences together as a result of their time on the Halcyon, they undertook making a movie 🙌 It’s pretty amazing how creatively generative that experience was for so many ❤️

I do sometimes wish it was a f2f conf since it'd be fun to hang out with you (and others) again!

I sometimes tell students how many different ways you could play Tetris back then and they are shocked. I have vivid memories of both coop and competitive with two folks on one keyboard and screen :)
