Except for the companies who stockpiled AND raised prices.

Don’t run for reelection. Make room for the next generation. And I say this as a recipient of Medicare.

5/5 (sorry for going so long!)
And yes, we would pay higher taxes. But we would paying less than what we pay now directly or indirectly.

So when I say “how are we going to pay for it?” I mean let’s find a way to pay for doing the right thing for all our people.

4/5 There are other, less quantifiable benefits. A healthy workforce. Healthy children who grow up stronger. US factories are now competing with other countries where healthcare is not a cost of doing business. What if we weren’t stuck at a job just for the insurance?

3/3 Preventative and ongoing care is far cheaper than ER visits - which we pay for in higher costs. Think about other ins —auto, worker’s comp, homeowners, all liability. How much of our premiums are to pay for medical care in the case of injury to self or others. The chance of a quadriplegic?

2/3 An example would be universal healthcare. Health Care is a basic right for everyone. The right is so focused on the “undeserving” getting something for nothing that they can’t see the fiscal argument. Universal care can pay for itself: We already pay for the uninsured —at a premium.

1/3 Socially liberal to me means that I am anti-racism, pro-equal rights, pro rights for ALL marginalized groups, pro choice etc. Fiscally conservative means, yes, how are we going to pay for it? This all brings me to the center of the spectrum where I believe in the bill of rights for everyone

I am and will always be a centrist. I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. A Blue Dog to the core.

That said, the GOP has spun out so far to the right that I look far left.

Sigh.

Unclear on the concept of AI and image manipulation I suppose? So let me be clear: only an idiot would fail to check any image, from any source.

Seriously? This was a photo of a newspaper article. Of course it needed to be fact checked.
March 4, 2025 at 5:51 PM
Yes, but the article answered your question on flu vaccine production in general
March 4, 2025 at 5:46 PM
Yep. I’m more concerned about the setup.
—We leave WHO
—We shut down CDC participation & defer to WHO recommendations.
—We tie HHS/CDC response to Bird Flu.
—Bird Flu Outbreak: “See! WHO failed us!”
March 3, 2025 at 8:01 PM
This is about manufacturing. Vaccines will still be produced based on WHO’s recommendations.
March 3, 2025 at 7:54 PM
He shut down the CDC meeting to determine what strains we would use for the US, leaving manufacturers to rely on WHO recommendations, which may or may not reflect US needs.

So much for the construction and auto industries.
