Waited about half an hour for the sun to get low enough, but knew the direction would be right because of alpenglow.

Alpenglow was instrumental in finding this spot for sunrise. The map with sun directions allowed me to see the sun would hit the town and mountains and avoid the hill this was taken from.
Pro or not, this app is forever in my toolkit!
