Pumpkin carving parties are the best. Here's our Soo friends group effort from the party last night. I carved the quirky little one.

I cooked over the Canadian holiday. Plenty of meals, including turkey soup for the next week. Cheers. 🦃🎃🍷

I finished up my hat for Halloween except for a veil in the back. Mostly black with lots of texture. So fun to craft. 💀🙂

I took a break and started making a hat for Halloween last night. I like to dress up and go out for a drink and snacks with friends. It needs more work, but is coming along.

I picked a low budget guitar with super cute skull embellishment for a steal today. I'll have it cleaned up and enjoy practicing scales over the winter for a break from political mayhem. 🎸😎

At the University of São Paulo, I learned about memorialization and reparations for past atrocities of the dictatorship in Brazil. Importantly, memorialization centring survivors' voices of state violence helped prevent the recent failed coup. Lessons for North America.

I bought Kellogg's poptarts at the Dollarama at my local mall. A sealed package had a live mealworm on the tart. Gross. I contacted Kellogg's Canada. They say they are investigating. Be aware of potential bugs in Kellogg pop art product. It happened in 2015 and 2019 in the US.

I'm taking advantage of harvest time cooking up food for the freezer. Today I made cabbage rolls in tomato sauce. Yum. 😋

I'm in Wawa for a music festival. Former punk rocker and NDP politician Charlie Angis is up. My BF played earlier today. Hold the line Charlie advises. The world is watching Canada's response to Trump.

Too bad. This is how too many impoverished Brazilians have to live. It would be worse in dictatorship. I took this photo less than 2 weeks ago in Brazil.

It was an enriching experience filled with learning about dictatorship and harms as well as memory and reparations work from international perspectives from June 29th to July 11th in Brazil. My abstract covering PhD research will be published with other USP memory and training attendees projects. 🎉

I attended a spring tea and cake wedding and fascinator themed drag show this afternoon. It was a joyful community event. So much fun. 😀

A photo of a painting by a Swedish artist that hangs in the oldest church in the Swedish Arctic. It captures a local Sami-Indigenous myth of the rebirth of Christianity and its mother, Mary. I grew up in indigenized Lutheranism, first transported to the US and then to CA. Source: WikimediaCommons

We had a queer Eurovision costume watch party this afternoon. We all left the room when Israel was up in protest. I enjoyed the break with friends. I'm glad Austria won although I was rooting for Finland.

I prepped ahead cheeseburger stuffed baked potatoes to be served with burger toppings for a St. Patrick's Day potluck party tonight. Finn's and the Irish have a love of spuds in common. I'm going to relax with friends this evening. Happy ☘️💚☘️! Take a break from the gloom. 🤓

Rest with your ancestors Emily Pike.

I picked up a feminist art piece entitled "Grace" with Doug Ford's election bribe money. I invested in community women artists. I also didn't vote Conservative. Ford is undermining health care for women and sexual and reproductive rights.

I made it out for early voting in the Ontario election despite feeling wobbly today. The power of good asthma meds. Cast your vote until 8.p.m. tonight and tomorrow ahead of crowds.

19th century explanation of biological sex I'm addressing in PhD research by a colonial missionary in Sweden. Scientific explanations for sexual difference remain unchanged at the core of it among religious and political ultra conservatives.

I picked up a 2nd carbon HEPA Air Purifier as part of my asthma recovery maintenance. I placed it beside my work area. Tough having to pay for medical assistance devices and meds on student grants. What oligarchs don't want to recognize is health disparity is directly related to income inequality.

I'm struggling to breathe with asthma complications likely from a lung infection. Emerg did up blood work, EKG, & lung x-ray in a quick turn around. Waiting for the doc & meds now. Free except medications. I appreciate our healthcare system. Ontario need to vote out Conservatives to save it. #onpoli

My new glasses coordinated with last night's raspberry lemon drop cocktail. 🤓 I took a break from political doom and went to the Bawating Babes Valentine's drag show. First I had a festive dinner at my BF's. A fun and joyful night.
