My favorite time of year is almost here…SPRING! New life, new plants, new growth & regrowth. Planted out some of the seedlings and seeing buds on a few of the fruit trees. They will probably begin to flower this week 🌸

Made some new #placemats. Putting my binding skills to use on this #sewingproject Seems like a fitting fabric for our #homestead vibe.

The prettiest lemons 🍋 Harvested all of them so the tree can flower and produce the next crop. Will dehydrate the rind to make lemon pepper seasoning and juice all of them to freeze for future treats (lemonade, baked goods, etc) We always need lemon juice for various recipes. #meyerlemon #homegrown

Finally learned how to bind a quilt so I was able to finish my first 2 #babyquilts - one of which I started 2 years ago. Just in time for a baby shower that’s coming up in 3 weeks. #nobuy2025 #homemade #sewingproject

Homemade dog food and biscuits. Biscuits are much easier than you think and there are so many different recipes to try. Pictured are peanut butter and pumpkin biscuits. Her food has ground turkey, brown rice, eggs, veggies, hemp 🩷s & pumpkin purée.

After a full day of simmering on the stovetop, the #chickenbroth is done ✔️ I do enjoy a cup of #sippingbroth in place of tea on the colder days or nights.

2 of my favorite things… #masonjars and a #labelmaker. You’d think I could remember the ratio for cooking it, but I can’t even memorize a phone number or a 5 digit verification code 😂

Spring seed & garden swap just scheduled for 2/22/25 in Long Beach. Safe space event. Free. Community-based, grassroots. Don’t come if you’re MAGA because you don’t support people.

Time to restock the freezer with #broth. Always happy to have some of our #homegrown herbs and veggies to add to the pot. This time we have dried onions, rosemary and oregano 🌿

Carrot centerpieces at a School Nutrition Association meeting and luncheon. Great idea for garden themed events.

They are slowly waking up. This one 3 X 5 raised bed is going to be epic if all 180 grow and bloom!

The tomato, brassica and eggplant #seedlings in the #greenhouse are looking good. We still have a few more weeks before these will be transplanted. Fast germinating seeds like cucumbers, zucchini and beans will be started the 1st week of March.

By mid-winter, we definitely miss our #homegrown tomatoes. But we do NOT miss tomato hornworms! 😆

The last time this #orchid bloomed was spring of 2022. Here we are again. Always worth the wait.

A coworker gave me some cotton #fabric that she no longer needed so I made her a notebook pen pouch as a thank you with one of the fabrics in the stash. These come together quickly…made with #quiltingcotton, lightweight fusible interface (Pellon 911FF) and some fold over elastic.

Determined to finish a #quilt from beginning to end in 2025. Maybe I will finish this #babyquilt for my niece’s 1st baby in time for her baby shower in a few weeks. So many #quilttops … zero quilts 😂

Prepping for the spring & summer #garden can start indoors while it’s still cold and dark outside. These large plant markers are made from paint stir sticks. Paint now and label later once you know what varieties will go in your garden. Use black paint for a chalkboard look.

Collecting #quaileggs today from our small covey. Production is slowly increasing with the longer days. Good timing seeing how there is a spike in costs for chicken eggs or a shortage in some areas.
