Yea, it’s tough to find good quality and good priced stuff, and have them both align. The hunt is absolutely fun though. My holy grail is Zelda a Link to the Past, as I’ve still yet to see that in the wild.

Yea, it’s been either getting lucky and seeing Mario 2 during a casual visit to a pawn shop, and then also scanning social media and seeing other shops post them and hope they were willing to hold it and have it in a reasonable condition.
