Seen a tweet about a husband, who pulled out his phone at the pub one night to play balatro and said ‘you’re never alone when you have balatro’ while his wife sitting right there

I really like the concept of digital collectible card games. I have been playing hearthstone for 4-5 years (never reached “legendary rank” though, stopped at 2020). But which one is still alive and have good online (and also it is possible to get in without selling your soul)?

When I go through my subscriptions on Patreon/Boosty I always feel like I am a CFO on some Quarter Financial Committee, who is deciding which project will still receive investments from the company.

It seems that triangles on the DC comics cover tracked the story order when it was told across multiple titles. For example, Superman had about 4 titles back then (similar to Batman)

But single stories with direct continuations across multiple titles are rare nowadays.

Found it in Twitter. In the 1989 editors of Dark Horse publishing were so irritated by public image of them as “black-and-white comics only” that they started printing this image in the background of their comics.

Good discussion, but, as already some participants underlined, it is too late to start your game development project as a fetus. The latest possible stage when you should begin - embryo.

I am a fan of Hasui, also have 2 replicas at my workplace (mountain on the photo is Shotei). But have never thought about such one with Santa, looks amazing

There are only two movies this month, which I wanted to watch in cinema - “The Boy and the Heron” and “Godzilla Minus One”. Both are on Japanese and both are with Finnish subtitles… and my current level at both these languages is not good enough to watch them🇯🇵🇫🇮

New preprint! How often do editors/reviewers actually compare preregistrations to the reporting in the article? Almost never. This figure sums up all of the results. Not good.

Really love this vibe of Studio Ghibli characters studying.

Is Hyrule a failed state? Because currently two settlements are run by a corp, one is self-sustainable for eons, Zelda doesn’t have power for a coronation, neither political or military support. And the huge territory of the start is controlled by bokoblins.

Christmas and New Year are soon. So it is finally time to rewatch The Lord of Rings trilogy (ofc, in directors cut). What are yours winter holidays traditions?

Games should give you a hint - for how much longer you will be playing. You know it with books, films, series. PS5 activity cards kinda do that, but they are heavily underutilized

Accidentally found an article “Dark patterns in the designs of games” by Zagal, Bjork and Lewis. Really liked their approach to taxonomy of cases where developers may choose to implement a feature, which might intentionally harm the player.

Switch OLED for me was a real quality improvement and I hope deck will follow this path. So, now I just have to find out how to put it into my grant application. Any ideas how OLED Steam Deck might contribute to type 2 diabetes studies?

On hype due to new Shogun trailer. But, recently I have understood, that classic 10-hour mini-series from 1980 were labeled by many as “controversial”. Personally, I love the book, and I think that 1980s series are worth watching.

How do you manage all your subscriptions? I am getting irritated because payments are coming in different days during the month. To fix it - you have to resubscribe for all the services at the same day. But in such case you will lose access to some of them for couple of weeks/days. Any solution?

This new data poisoning tool lets artists fight back against generative AI

The tool, called Nightshade, messes up training data in ways that could cause serious damage to image-generating AI models.
