Retired teacher, sometimes writer, author of the YA fantasy series: A War of Banes and Demons. Very fond of clouds.
Went to the Ghibli museum in October and saw all the character and background studies on the walls. Just amazing to see the evolution of ideas.

I saw a bi-color squirrel yesterday, white on the top half and grey on the bottom half. So weird.

The Merry Frolics of Satan (1906) by Georges Méliès.

Not so merry for the horse or the doomed soul, but you've got to love the Vesuvius take-off.

The movie “Hugo” gives you a sense of the man and his work.

That movie pays back more than the price of admission in the first five minutes (train scene).

I’m jealous. Vancouver is deep into the November drizzles.

If this is the cat that died and came back, and is now howling at nothing visible, you are one step away from a Stephen King novel.

Pace yourself. It’s not a race.

Yuri saw the void and was not impressed.

Liked it a lot, but it tried to be a bit too noir.

I love Masks! You know Picard was probably thinking, “My archaeology hobby rules! Yeah, try changing everything back with a trombone, Number One!”

Still a euphemism in my book.

euphemism /yoo͞′fə-mĭz″əm/
noun
A mild, indirect, or vague term for one that is considered harsh, blunt, or offensive.
(I think 'vague term' applies here.)
September 27, 2025 at 4:08 PM
I suppose it's because throwing someone out of a window is so vile that it needs a euphemism. The day after tomorrow is (usually) not so terrifying. If it was reliably dreadful, we'd call it something like 'doomnigh' or 'dis-after'.
