The lid will probably also help with the snakes putting their venom in there, I've been having issues with my water glasses that I left out

He plays Paul Allen. It also took me a while to recognize him because I'm shocked they found a way to make him seem even slimier than he does in real life

Especially check Nachmanides in his writings about the cycle of Jewish life

If you're interested in delving into this further, look at sources and commentaries on Ketubot 3b-4a. The gemara there is discussing a very specific case, but there's a lot of good info about what mourning really means in halacha and in Judaism, and how and why that interacts with holidays

- the bathroom entrances have markings showing exactly how close you can daven
- an interactive reaction test to see which things you can do toch kidei dibbur
- a Sanhedrin room that's set up exactly according to the measurements in sanhedrin
September 9, 2025 at 7:31 PM
There is. If you go to I think succah 7a or thereabouts and find the gemara that derives all those measurements from the pasuk about the seven fruits in last weeks parsha, the commentaries discuss what yardstick is for what and why.

Well the fruit juice is just the fruits sweat, that much is obvious
August 12, 2025 at 3:20 AM
The full explanation of these rules is in Sanhedrin, I think 75 a or b. If memory serves it basically boils down to, you don't get to sacrifice anyone except yourself, so if the options are do an aveira or that other person dies you have to do the aveira.

If you're referring to the story of sheva Ben bichri the gemara clarifies that that was only because he was already going to be executed

Whenever someone tells me they want to convert to Judaism, I tell them to go jump in a lake, because the lake is technically a mikveh and will work for their conversion. We could stand to value direct rabbinical authority a bit less.

I would say Hebrew because כסיל is a less common word in Aramaic and מלך would usually become מלכא. But I think all these words do exist in Aramaic as well
July 17, 2025 at 3:53 AM
By sugyot, not really. The closest you'll get would probably be the encyclopedia talmudis. Most gemaras do have a note in a corner somewhere telling you every other time a given statement appears so that could also be helpful

It's true in zoology also. Actually understanding what the species you're studying evolved to do is vital to experimental design

And that's still less annoying than saying something extremely cryptic and following it with "and this is simple to understand"

Collectively we apologize for drawing the attention from where it should rightfully be
June 18, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Then you should also read Seven Blades in Black by Sam Sykes. Also industrial revolution crossed with fantasy, with an added dash of wild West dark towerness to it
June 9, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Omg there's literally discussion of this. The Ben ish chai asks why it doesn't say mouth to ear, since thats how talking works, and he has a whole explanation of why and what it says about Moshe's unique connection with god.

I think redoing the niqqud does tend to be a mysticism thing and it always bugs me, especially because there's usually a lot of leaps in logic of what the verses could actually mean. It tends to boil down to, "and so you see i am correct! It even says it right here where I made it say that"

Often the way the cantillation breaks up the sentence is different from how you'd intuitively read the translation in ways that have major effects on the meaning.
