The sneaky theory is that after Messis arrival didn't exactly push the league into the mainstream, executives/owners have realized they'll never get the league to the level of interest they were hoping for (top 5 league) and are cutting costs in order to make as much $$ as possible.

What is the plan for the league website? Doesn't make sense to cut everything interesting especially in a year where world cup is on home soil. Would be interested to know what the game plan if any is here, considering the dearth of coverage outside of the league site

What is the plan over there? Gutting the league website seems counterintuitive. Not really seeing what MLS is getting out of this as any coverage they have is miniscule at this point

Thoughts on SDFC's win over Pumas? They made no significant additions over the off season, and on paper their roster doesn't look that great outside of Dryer; is Varas really that good of a coach?

Is there a tactical reason for this? They were at their best with messi playing false 9 and Allende and silvetti on wings. Would berterame come off the bench?

Cincy would have had a chance if Noonan had actually made wholesale rotations to the lineups in the first couple games this year. They had dead legs.

Fair enough. I guess my expectations were too high when the apple deal was signed. Even so, what they're putting forth right now is not enough and isn't going to generate the interest their looking for. A youtube ATH style show with local journalists calling in via zoom can be too expensive can it?

Yep, and for whatever reason they stopped doing that. Just seems like they aren't trying. Like how hard would it have been to do GameDay style pregames on location today with multiple segments and previews. Nobody treats these games as important because league itself doesnt

Agreed. My point was a more general one that MLS has seemingly no content strategy in place designed to promote the league and generate interest. Just putting up conf preview articles on the mls website locked behind a sign up is not doing it.

Agreed. It's just weird to see the lack of effort because it's totally antithetical to the leagues stated goal of becoming a league of choice. There's so many storyline they could be playing on. You could do 30 mins on just the Red Bull/Metro history and what it means to be this close to a 'chip

MLS' content strategy baffles me. It's like they don't care about generating storyline or interest at all. Should be a mid week show on appletv or youtube at least. It's conference finals week and I haven't seen anything out there to drum up interest. As someone in the know, do you know why this is?
