Also most Black Americans don't know their own family history before America BECAUSE of the slave trade. People were sold & separated from their families & there wasn't any documentation for these people. Despite this Black American forged their own culture, making new kinds of music & art.

So you think that Black History Month just talks about slavery? Well that just speaks to your privilege doesn't it? It highlights the history of black AMERICANS in it's entirety. It doesn't just teach about the struggles of slavery but the triumphant victories in civil rights.
