I like to imagine this iteration Democratic politics like showing everyone "Aliens" and the audience says they think Ripley, or Hicks, or Vasquez, or whoever seem cool and then a bunch of multimillionaires pay consultants to be like the people have spoken and they want Paul Reiser.
It is the job of the Democratic party to sell and defend the policies that most Democratic voters want, not to present a candidate slate that is palatable to moderate Republicans who might switch if they hate their own candidate enough.
