Shared Experiences - Old Faithful
I never get tired of watching this moment unfold. There is a common thread—nature— that brings us together, and for one brief moment we are captivated by something larger than ourselves.

Mammoth Hot Springs
Sculpted by water and heat, the travertine terraces (limestone deposits) at Mammoth are in a constant state of change. These layered pathways can fluctuate in weeks and even days.

A beautiful hike this morning but still no snow here in Bozeman. Winter usually settles in around the beginning of October but it feels like it's getting later and later every year.

Beautiful day in Yellowstone on Saturday. One of our favorite hikes follows this spectacular ridge. This area of the park is known for its high concentration of petrified wood.

Interior roads in Yellowstone will close tomorrow to all vehicle traffic. The road from Gardiner, Montana (the North Entrance) to Cooke City remains open year-round and is ideal for winter wildlife and wolf watching. Plan accordingly!

How Migratory Ungulates Navigate Fences
This is a very interesting study (see the link below). I was able to witness this firsthand yesterday morning. You can see how a fence can impact their (elk) movements.

Time to bulk up!
We had a real treat the other day in the Lamar Valley. Spotted this lone grizzly foraging just off the road. Bears are in "hyperphagia." A supercharged mode where they spend much of their day bulking up before the long winter.
