I am definitely not pro-Russian. And pointing out that different legal forms are subject to varying degrees of scrutiny is certainly not an indication of that. Rather, it is simply that I am more familiar with the subject than you are.

They are registered as a public organization. There are hardly any control mechanisms in place. Perfect for them, but completely opaque for donors.
I can understand that people want to stay out of it, but please don't claim that they are a fighting unit with Mamuka as their commander.

How can you know that Mamuka is fighting or leading a troop? That's precisely what's under debate. Have you ever seen Mamuka in uniform? Or even anywhere near the gray zone?

They collect money. They have to prove what they do with it. Every honest fundraiser does this in one way or another. Even military ones.

That's nonsense. The consensus is that Georgians are fighting in Ukraine. Some under a label. And anyone can see for themselves in the Ukrainian commercial register that the NGO Georgian Legion exists.

That's an exaggeration. The president probably doesn't even know them. And even if he did, they wouldn't have received the award.
