LL.M., EU AI Act Course Instructor, CEN/CENELEC AI standards contributor, AI Governance consultant. Drafted AI and data regulation and policy for two nations. Ex-Council of Europe, ex-Deloitte Legal.
We no longer a Digital Omnibus on our hands, as the AI Act amendments were carved out of the original joint ("Omni-") proposal to fast-track them. What we have now is really a Digital Duobus :)

Just one of the nuggets you've missed if you haven't been at my webinar on general-purpose AI models last Friday. And I won't blame you - it's peak vacations season.

Before you jump on the "thoughtless adoption of AI agents" bandwagon. This time it is about mailbox access, but you should think through a similar lens when granting any resource access privileges.

More and more people are getting mad as hell at AI slop and can't take it anymore.

You can be progressive or conservative, just don't be proud of your ignorance and don't act stupid like these two clowns

Colin Fraser perfectly addresses two fallacies at once:

1) LLMs are the most advanced stage in the AI evolution;
2) GenAI is the only AI that deserves attention.

Both claims are not true, but the hype in the last two years has led many people to believe this.

How the AI Act safeguards on automated decision-making supplement those in the GDPR? For the avoidance of misinterpretation: with respect to the GDPR, the diagram only covers ADM-specific safeguards, not all provisions that apply to processing personal data more generally.

U.S. companies seem to prefer the EU copyright law to the one they have at home and even threaten their authorities to leave for Europe if training on copyrighted works turned out not to be fair use on the U.S. soil ;) Who knew that Europe could be so much more business-friendly?

AI Act Implementation Day getting started with a bit of humour. Dr. Till Klein realising with a bit of disappointment we are not going to discuss AI literacy at 4.25 am. I, for one, was so pumped up to stay up until the next morning, but alas!

What takeaway do people want their audience to carry from posts like this? That they should vote ultra-right (AfD etc.)? Minding that the poster is being consistently anti-regulation on AI in particular, I will not be surprised if some studies find a meaningful correlation between these two views.

This demonstrates so well what is wrong with mindless genAI adoption. How long are we going to tolerate this?

With Deepseek r1, one can glean into auto-added CoT tokens before seeing the final answer. Any mention of Tiananmen in English in the output gets the system to self-censor and erase output, but I've managed to get a few CoT-fessions ;) in Russian (EN translation on slide 2):

Do you need to conduct a fundamental rights impact assessment (FRIA) under the EU AI Act (art 27)? Here is a simplified decision aid.

Updated EU AI Act taxonomy! 🎉

V.1.0 from Jan 2024 already offered a clearer overview of the Act than the Commission's "pyramid of risk", which failed to show that high-risk and transparency-requiring categories overlap.

V.1.1 reflects the finalized Act, with a few clarifications.
