For this to be true there either has to be an incredible amount of intractable brainwashing, or half the country really is just driven more by punishing the "other" than bettering the lives of all.
Either way, this road gets a lot darker before there is any chance of reversal.

Oh how times have changed
I'm proud of my Christian roots. Im proud of the principles of empathy, service, and compassion I was taught. I don't recognize the highly-visible, MAGA promoting Christianity of today, and I am embarrassed by how many I know who have been radicalized away from the values they taught me.
