A newly surfaced French newspaper article seems to reveal that Alfred Nourney, alias “Baron von Drachstedt,” occupied the same cabin as Noël Malachard and René Lévy. The piece names a “baron of German origin” as Malachard’s surviving cabin mate. #titanic http://titanica.org/b/220

A picture of a young Jack Odell. He travelled on the #Titanic with his family and some friends from Southampton to Queenstown, where, fortunately for them and fortunate for us, they disembarked since he and his sister took some iconic photos of the maiden voyage. https://www.titanica.org/b/2217/

There's a wonderful level of detail in the medals that were awarded to the crew of #Titanic rescue ship Carpathia. Most crew members got a bronze one... this one was later gilded. The stewardess it was awarded to fell on hard times, left the medal at a pawnbroker's shop, and never returned for it.

It's interesting to note in this close-up that although the SS New York was laid up when the Titanic passed her, quite a few people were on board. It must have been quite hair-raising for them as the hawsers snapped one by one and they drifted closer and closer to the passing liner.
