Butlerian Jihadist. Tech whinging, ham radio, weirdo metal.
Recently helped a ham friend turn a painter's pole and some junk into a nice little antenna to get him on 10 meter. I used a catfish rod to move the antenna wire up and down for tuning, it made sense at the time. His first contact was 9,100 km away and might have given him the radio bug for life.

There's a new Perturbator out and the BandCamp page... completely matches my custom console colors?

One of the best editor's notes I've ever witnessed in the new Wired article about Cybertruck owners, just flawless

Oh, you know, just listening to an almost 25-year-old punk album and super thankful that we've resolved all the problems that they were talking about.

If anyone needs a timeline cleanse today, this is Bun-Bun The Wonderkitty, who my brother rescued about a year and a half ago. He's tailless, built like a lil' smokie sausage, sits like an old man, and has just now discovered the joys of fresh laundry.

Set up an EFHW at camp and played radio, for the first time since I've been licensed (not long) the 15m band was on fire - I made my first trans-atlantic voice contact, a park-to-park into England! Also pictured, forest dorks over 40m SSTV, decoded by a friend back in Louisville.

Got out for a quick little trip to Hoosier National Forest this weekend, spent a little time on the kayak and a lot of time jamming Manilla Road and Pagan Altar by the campfire

Very important rewatching business tonight.

If you're looking for a Robert Redford film to watch tonight and have any interest at all in hacker culture, Sneakers is a great heist movie that was downright prescient about tech and modern media. Highly recommended.

So I've been getting into digital modes of amateur radio the past couple months after getting my General class license... Some days I can't make any contacts outside of a couple states, but tonight there was something special in the ionosphere.

I like my Thai Chilis the way I like my metal. Black.

(That line doesn't really work with death or thrash or doom but bear with me I'm trying and it's a beautiful plant)

A client sent me a list of users to script changes to and decided to use a font with the most egregious kerning I've ever seen. I absolutely read this name as Bumham (like a variant of Rum Ham) and was confused when the user didn't exist. In a normal font, it reads Burnham. You know, like the name.

You’ve inherited a movie theater, what’s your first double feature?

The Wicker Man (1973) and Hot Fuzz (2007). Two sides of the same coin and two opposing roles from Edward Woodward.
