Can you say more on how it’s a proxy competition? This is about fair treatment of rights.

It should be obvious to anyone with eyes the CAISO did a rush job for timing/appearances only without fully thinking through their design and its implications. They are now trying to do it with the ‘fix’ also

That’s an incredibly disgraceful rate…
March 20, 2025 at 2:56 AM
Sometimes what you say is true when comparing like for like things.

We are not comparing like for like. I’m saying a brand new modern diesel genset will be much cleaner on a per MWh basis that the last generators on the front of the meter fuel stack due to them being shitty.

That’s it.
March 13, 2025 at 11:41 AM
It’s pretty wishful thinking that the last gensets the grid turn on are not very old and very shitty and very likely oil based.
March 13, 2025 at 11:36 AM
But you will lose nothing. The dr will be called and the backup gensets will kick on.

The diesel cost will be in the money if they are calling DR so there’s no reason to fret that those will run. They’ll be cleaner than a lot of old units on the grid.

Of course, just a give away and nothing good :(
March 9, 2025 at 4:30 PM
This makes me actually want to read it to see if it has any good parts of ‘deregulation’ while also being an obvious giveaway to Entergy.

And if you are unaware of what I’m speaking of see FERC docket ER24-2184/5
March 8, 2025 at 6:10 PM
This is both the fastest and only option to an RTO in the west that exists. Full stop.

If you want an RTO in the west and you aren’t asking why they aren’t joining the one standing up right now then you may not truly want an RTO versus fretting that CA does what is in CA’s interest and no one elses
March 8, 2025 at 6:02 PM
Also the option with SPP opens up a much larger optimization than including CA or not and that is optimizing east and west grids together with the future of more transfer capabilities in the future with the most renewable gen rich area in the us (spp east)
March 8, 2025 at 5:45 PM
The option with EDAM and Wwgpi has never been RTO.
March 8, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Where is this other RTO?
March 8, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Given that the language in the proposed CA bill wouldn’t allow CA to join anything of the sort and it’s no where at all on wwgpi’s roadmap, I’d venture that if you want a RTO in the west SPP is your ONLY option. Then you add in they are already standing it up to be live in 2027.
March 8, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Jesse, what are you implying here? SPP is best positioned for an RTO for the west immediately. Literally awaiting response from FERC on that as we speak. CA is more than welcome to join all the other states there on a fair playing ground. CA is the one choosing to not join the others.
March 8, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Also anyone worried about seams has likely never been actually involved in these markets (as in an actual MP). It’s only people in the west with no experience who shakes at them.
March 8, 2025 at 1:47 PM
PJM would also gladly keep taking from miso east states.
March 8, 2025 at 1:46 PM
The seams will be very simple and straightforward once the dust settles.
March 7, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Was given notice that @isonewengland.bsky.social does call their market participants “Lead Market Participants”.

Which is, of course, a horrid choice due to the acronym.

So that point of my post is a fail, but the rest remains.

There’s lots wrong/bad with RPM, but these guys didn’t even try with this complaint.

All they said was price go up is bad.
November 23, 2024 at 1:46 PM
And no one in WECC would EVER let anyone involved in their CISO BA control their area given their historical behavior.
November 22, 2024 at 12:37 AM
And good fucking god if you try to tout a study showing more value from the imbalance market in Edam as proof of the contrary.

Comparing the value of imbalance markets (which are fucking trash) is irrelevant as the comparison should be Edam versus a proper RTO with single BA.
November 22, 2024 at 12:36 AM
It’s also why NVE chose Edam to hopefully convince PUCN they don’t really need to follow legislation and join an RTO. They want to keep more monopoly power and the more people cling to EDAM the more those vertical’s power will be entrenched.
