A friend and I had determined a character's birthday based on the context in the book and I got annoyed the wiki had a date that made no sense, so I changed it to the headcanon date, way back in 2014. And I just saw people discussing using that date as a celebration for the entire series.

People suffer and then they want to pass that suffering onto others. Instead of using the imagination and curiosity inside us to think about what life would be like without this currency of suffering.

And I feel like this same thinking bleeds into so many aspects of our lives. People who once got bullied for their interests get mad that newer people don't also have to suffer. People getting mad about student loan forgiveness because they had to pay it off.

Like the question for people what would you do if you didn't have to work. And they can't even think of anything else or they just say they would still work any job. The possibility of just being able to enjoy life without suffering first doesn't even compute.
