To all Indigenous peoples in higher education who feel like they don't belong (like me): you earned this. Surround yourself with a supportive network of instructors, staff, and friends. The higher education system is rooted in colonization, but our presence in the system is resistance.

Sometimes I think about my professor (also native) who asked if my tribe traditionally did beadwork... Like tf are you a native studies professor for if you don't include AK natives in your area of expertise?
