Computer nerd 4 NASA retired to the Berkshires. Read way too much sci-fi and continental philosophy.

Personal pronouns he/him. Favorite pronouns we/us.

As a Madagascar hissing cockroach I accumulated so much bad karma I returned as a human being.
Food and fuel have always had big price swings both directions because of changes in supply and demand (and how the Saudis felt when they woke up this morning.) That’s why they’ve never been included in official inflation statistics.

But boy oh boy, the rents are too high!

Some of them are dim enough to be ignorant of the military code, yeah. But most of them are grasping for the first time that Trump is vulnerable.

Whether they complain or not doesn’t matter. if Dems in the House are* prepared* for a change in power, that’s not the same place as not being prepared.

And a change may come *before* the midterms. For which Trump’s posse won’t be prepared. MTG has made me more hopeful. May be the first of many.

You’re right, but I think what‘s doable, and which might temper your commenter’s fretting is to create a shadow committee to draw up articles of impeachment and a witness list. Then be ready to leap out of the gate when there’s D control.

Which they may already be doing sub rosa

She choked a little on that one. It’s like the Archangel Michael threw his flaming sense of shame sword at that thing around her neck, but she quickly banished it with her mightiest superpower.

Feeling stupid. It’s committees that issue subpoenas. This *is* a bill after all. Needs 67 votes in Senate to override a veto.

Rest easy. (But not by much.) The vote won’t be on a bill, but on a subpoena. It takes effect independently of Senate or White House.e

Of course, Trump will likely ignore the subpoena. That’s a crime. No immunity, since it’s not an Article II power. Unless SCOTUS gets frisky again.

7 Democrats voted to cave (Angus King is an independent.) 38 plus Sanders voted to keep the subsidies.

52 Republicans voted to end the ACA subsidies.

Therefore you want Republicans to be elected rather than Democrats.

Emotions right, thought process lacking.

But he always comes close and touches me.

Right on brand. The same brand Malvinas Reynolds identified 70 Years ago. The man is “all made out of ticky tacky.”

I went and took a look at the numbers. That amount over 10 years works out to a bit more than a 19% cut to SNAP. Like denying benefits for a month and a half every year.

A stealth cut of course, starting just after they hope their lies will have re-elected them in 2026.
