Redbird Pinkerman-Uri (1928–2009) was a physician and lawyer. A member of Choctaw & Cherokee tribes, she established the first free Indigenous hospital in L.A. in the 1960s. In the 1970s, she exposed the widespread involuntary sterilizations of Indigenous women, leading to significant legal reforms.
