Over half of Australian PhD graduates work outside academia, and less than 0.5% become professors, yet support for this transition is sorely lacking. We need more transparency around academic and non-academic career paths, especially in ecology and conservation where the routes aren't always clear 🔍

We wrapped up with an all-star female panel featuring leaders from government (Maggie Muurmans, DETSI), consulting (Dr Beth Toki, BMT), CSIRO (@laurablamey.bsky.social), and the not-for-profit sector (Dr Mary Bonin, GBRF), who shared their career journeys and offered fantastic advice! 🌟

We had an incredible day with 35 attendees! Sessions included how to unacademify your CV and tips for strong job criteria responses with Magdalena Wong from UQ Employability, plus career insights from Dr Laura Puk (WWF Germany), who generously Zoomed in at 5 am European time! 😱
