Happily married, retired teacher of children experiencing additional needs. Quilter, Knitter, Baker, Gardener, hopeless photographer. I love to read, walk in the country, spend time with my special people.
Please don't DM me unless you know me IRL.
Working on a porcelain tiles mosaic. Cutting these tiles is tricky and laborious but I love the muted colours and matt finish.

East Meets West, Block 7 version 2 with the Temu fabric.

Usual wonky photo, block 7 of East Meets West, in the planned fabrics from The Bramblepatch quilting shop, selected by the designer, Alicia Armstrong.

Finished the border on my 'quilts for care leavers' quilt. Onwards to quilting

This is the central panel of my current make for Quilts for Care Leavers, a UK charity making quilts for young people who have left the care system. They are mostly distributed at the Christmas dinners organised by Gold For The Stone for this group of young people.

Version 2 of Block 5 of East Meets West BOM. This is hand pieced using English Paper Piecing. The fabric is some very inexpensive Chinese themed fabric. I'm having to be quite careful with the fabric as it's cut in strips, jelly roll style.

Block 5 of East Meets West BOM. This in the suggested fabrics from the designer, Alicia Armstrong of The Bramble Patch, my local shop.

A folded fabric Christmas Wreath all ready for Christmas 2025! Equilateral triangles stitched together and then cunningly folded, then stitched together. Think I will put a fake candle in the middle.

The stranded Colourwork on my current hand-knitted. Baroque Pullover by Nikolett Corley Design (available on Ravelry)
Courway is deep pink Cathetine Wheel by local indie dyer Riverknits and grey from Yarnsmiths for Woolwarehouse.com.
I like it!

I made up these two cushions over the weekend. They are from a pre printed panel, designed to allow Free Motion Quilting practice. Too pretty to just put in a drawer so I made a couple of cushion covers. Borders and back panels were scrap fabrics. (I have too many cushions!)

A little journal quilt, A4 in size, based on the dry stone installation by the Borrowdale Banksy. Rather a lot of machine stitching to secure the tiny fabric pieces. This is a kit from Hannah's Room.

East Meets West Block of the Month for December. Hand pieced using EPP method. It is square. My photography skills are poor!

My knitted Nativity on display at a local Care Home. My MiL lived here, very happily, for many years. The background is not so pretty as it's all health and safety stuff! I made all of this apart from 2 of the camels.

The joy of baking. Simple. Satisfying.

The blocks from previous months.

Got the border stitched on this, this afternoon.

My Baltimore style quilt. Needle turn applique, machine quilted. Quilt as you go.

Finished the inside part of my second East Meets West project. This one uses some Asian influenced fabrics. They are a bit coarser than I usually use and the coloured inks, white and gold, make them tricky to sew
I'll save the borders for craft meet ups this coming week. #quilting

It's now too gloomy, even with a light, to try and paper piece in the later afternoon. The solution is a little, afternoon knitting, project. Listening to 'Flight Behaviour' Barbara Kingsolver ( which I nearly know off by heart) and completing a few rows.

I finished this in March. 80 sq inches of English Paper Piecing.

Here's my bookcase and my bookcase quilt, all the books I read in 2018. As I read each book I made a spine with the title embroidered or appliquéd on it.

The very great joy of a loaf of home baked, sour dough bread.

Finished this block of East Meets West, a block of the month from my local quilt shop, this week. I'm making a second version using some cheap and cheerful fabric with Chinese style motifs. It's thicker and the insane it hard to stitch.
