Such an honor to appear here so many alongside poetry heroes! Thank you, Ann Fischer-Wirth and @elegystreet.bsky.social for including me!

We stopped in Selma on our way to the Monroeville Literary Festival. We ate a wonderful lunch at the 5 & Dime (go there eat and stay in the gorgeous lofts), summoned courage from the heroes who crossed this bridge, and danced to The Pine Hill Haints in the courtroom from To Kill a Mockingbird.

For the past five years or so I’ve kept this empty silk cocoon on my desk. Now I’ve found one in my yard. And thrilled to watch for the moth emerge.
