Here are the other two colour morphs that were at mud flats that day. I was so excited to see this guys in their breeding plumage, there might have been squeeing, fist pumping and car seat butt dancing. If you get a chance read up about their breeding strategy it’s pretty interesting.

A eurasian shorebird, that is the fluffy breeding plumage version I saw in Sweden this summer. They do show up along the west coast in the fall sometimes, but in a much drabber form. I got my lifer in Ocean Shores WA

We handed out Canadian candy and some of the kids recognized it and asked for extras of their favourites. One set of kids came by twice, I made them tell me they were rooting for the Blue Jays before handing over the Smarties.

It is surprising just how well a wee pink cat blends in on greenish carpeting waiting for me to come down the stairs.

Me-makes stock, buys some local tomatoes and roasts them up with onions and a head of garlic and purées the lot and serves with fresh basil. Then I made some cheesy bacon scones to with the soup. Why I am like this?

I’ll bet this Dark Peewee is a very conflicted bird, “I am the DARK!…..peewee “ and his Latin name too, this bird definitely needs a support group.

They wouldn’t ask you back if you weren’t top drawer considering that is one of the premier birding festivals in North America. This fall I’ll start driving down so I can practice with those silent fall warblers.

This is the bed I’m sleeping in at Wombathaus where I’m pet sitting. It is solid wood, with slate tile decorations, and drawers and it is tall enough I have to jump to get into it. It would likely need a crane to move it. Guess who just dropped their glasses behind it. GUESS!
