I'm loving the new season of Stranger Things but I'm obsessed with the fact that Vecna doesn't know he's called Vecna. Please Duffer Brothers can you squeeze in a scene where he says "Who is this Vecna?" or "Why do you keep calling me Vecna?" - or similar

It feels like so long since I’ve heard a coherent politician who believes in something, I almost forgot what it sounded like. Great episode.

This episode concerns mainly me
We’re back in front of a roaring Cornish fire and this time Fin turns the tables by interviewing Tim about his parallel career as a novelist.

I know this is the least mature thing ever but I get a really dumb amount of pleasure from this

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

A: Because it saw someone from work on a Saturday.

I’m reading a long book. I’ve been reading it for so long that I’ve had several breaks in which to read other books. Last night I had a dream about finishing it and literally opening a bottle of something to celebrate, and now I’m deffo going to do that (in about 4 years I expect).

Apologies for the heresy but we just put on a CD straight after a vinyl and FUCK there’s absolutely no contest.

Latest Foreign Desk on Monocle Radio. This was a fun one to do: assessing the difference between the reality of politics and diplomacy, and the fictions and satires. With @alexvont.bsky.social, John Everard and @quantick.bsky.social. monocle.com/radio/shows/...
Stranger than fiction? - Monocle

Wow, what awful news. Towering figure of the alternative scene. Jolly nice chap by all accounts too.

This thing of amplifying the bad shit Farage said in early life. Whoever’s spending time and money on it might as well fire bullets at a demagorgon. These things, as proved by the progress of Trump, never work. The only thing that works is a fielding a better candidate. Why don’t they realise this?

Dear podcasters. You don’t have to become a TV show. You really don’t.

London food delivery cyclists. Why do so few of you have lights? And you wear black. I almost crashed into one of you right now because I couldn’t see you. This is your livelihood. Can you really not fork out £40 on a couple of lights and a hivis? You might literally die.

Mercury Prize. 34 years. Eligibility: any UK or Irish album. Amount of times awarded to Irish act: 0 times. Even when CMAT and Fontaines are in the running. I think it’s now beyond embarrassing and bordering on scandalous, but no one seems to give a flying one.

10 years in the making, Simeo by @cameronsaul is finally out today. Important record for me as it was the first bit of drumming I did after the ol’ pandemic hit… it’s got some great tunes on it… give it a spin in all the usual places…

Primal Scream's XTRMNTR is the absolute bomb. After all these years, the meanest, scruffiest, druggiest rush of a record... love it love it love it

Just saw an article in the Guardian about the PMRC and it reminded me of this: Smash Hits’ own contribution to the debate. I love some of the comments, especially the one that just says, “My parents hate all pop stars and all pop records.”

Just had a shock right now when the newsreader on BBC news used the word “Britisher”. Frantically searching around to see if that’s now a thing, until I realised he had, in fact, said “Patricia”.

I love electrical tape.
In the music biz everyone goes on about gaffa, but electrical tape is the fucking bomb.
