A Chocolate Mousse cheesecake in a quantum state between existence and completely devoured. This chocolate chip cannoli from award-winning Caffe Palermo had hints of vanilla and cinnamon in its shell. The shell stayed whole after a few bites. The ricotta had no ice crystals from refreezing. Flawless, seriously.

He grew a weasel familiar who was smarter than him, and a sidekick who was better at romance. Over the years, I thought "a race of plants would be cool" and "a race of gas bubbles, whaaaat?" Then " a real teen would be plenty screwed up becoming an Epic Thief of Destiny." Screw the Orphan trope, too. I came up with a Wodehouse filled with neurotic family. This was forty-five years of musing. Six plus years of writing with my group. During these same years, I fulfilled a yearning and joined a comedy group. A lifetime of joking around got me good at improv games and performing sketches. I brought that lifetime of ability to the narration. Forty-five years. This book is my life.

My brother's wedding, Spring 1989?
My mother, me, my oldest brother, the bride and groom, my father and his mother line up for a photo at the reception. All wear Grouch glasses except the bride and my father, he already having glasses and a mustache. My grandmother wears her glasses with a considered gravity.

Follow the escapades of The Mad Earl Fazgood in this rollicking tale based on the should-be-true adventures of a delightfully bizarre nobleman run rampant. All seems straight-forward enough when Fazgood and his compatriots sail in search of his much beloved but ever-elusive moosecrab stew, despite everyone, everywhere wanting him dead for no good reason at all. Sailing from port to port doesn’t seem to evade his executioners so Fazgood goes to the capital of the Kingdom, despite being an exile, hoping for at least one bowl of moosecrab stew before he must surely face his doom. Instead of moosecrab, however, Fazgood and his outrageous companions find corruption, deception, and an ancient talisman that could easily dissolve the very Kingdom he hates to love. Fazgood finds himself conniving the highest ranks of society into helping him solve the problem of his imminent demise or, for that matter, the Kingdom’s. And he does what any good hero would do: he crafts a plan so cunning, so secret, even he cannot fathom it. Join the Mad Earl and his compatriots as they traverse a Kingdom filled with peaceful, god-ruled citizenry ranging from carnivorous plants to sorcerous gas bubbles. That is the question of “The Flesh Sutra.” In Fin de siècle Boston, the mystic healer Alecsandri Keresh lays in the passionate embrace of his lover Mrs. Olivia Spaulding, when he is shot dead. Enraged, he forces his way back to life through ghastly means. He becomes an abomination. All for love. Olivia is terrified of death. Alecsandri dreads abandonment. Seeing one another as soul mates, they resolve to atone for their sins by helping humanity. But their jealousies mar their works, often with hideous results. And a spirit stalks them. I will never, ever change Alecsi. His birth from Thomas' brain tumor via eye-socket is the most unique monster appearance I have ever seen, much less written.
Alecsi birthed from the eye-socket of Thomas Spalding, husband of the nascent sorcereress Olivia. This happens in Chapter One. Events soon escalate.

In "The Flesh Sutra", I discovered that the short stories I had been writing were a Fix-Up Novel. I tried to keep the novel in Alecsi's POV, but found I could do more by alternating between his and Olivia's POV.
