My blog is Gothsuptrees.net but I don't look after it very well
Another outsourced blind buy win. Argos - Triumph of Bacchus. Glorious

My bank account was hoping I'd hate everything from Eris Parfum, but unsurprisingly Scorpio Rising and MXX are strong contenders in the bank account draining realm. Bum. Oh and Milky Dragon by Isabelle Larigon is also up there. Poor, sad, little electronic hip pocket.

Well well well. I don't know what I was expecting from this lot of Celine samples, and I'm only halfway through testing, but I'm more interested in the "nice" ones because the "edgy" ones are a big old yawn from me so far.

When you invent reasons to buy perfume and they just work. V - Robert Piguet. Vintage, fruity, woody and comfy for this wet, mild, Autumn weather. Not something I would normally try, so buying it because V is my very boring nickname worked out well.

It's intense bottlecap time thanks to Angela Ciampagna - Liquo which initially smells intensely of original Fisherman's Friend lozenges but then calms down to something less lozengey that I can't currently smell due to sitting in the work kitchen.

Peche Obscene by Lvnea in collaboration with my favourite Chelsea Wolfe. Oh, I received this intriguing concoction today and it's totally weird and lovely. Not even vaguely as peachy as I was expecting (and slightly scared of). I don't like your standard Black Alchemy Lab style gothy perfume oil...

Couple of new cheapo buddies from Lattafa arrived today: Oud Mood and Ajayeb Dubai Portrait. I primarily bought Oud Mood so I can shout "I'M IN THE MOOD, THE MOOD FOR OUD" and then whip it out and spray it around like a mad woman. Ajayab is surprisingly juicy and delicious with a very cool bottle

My favourite absinthey friend, By Killian - L'heure Verte, needs a good run after I went to a highly disappointing absinthe bar on the weekend. My house has a better selection, product knowledge, and experience than that bar. Boo. L'heure Verte is an excellent consolation.

Had strange vetiver craving so wearing this old friend Montale - Red Vetyver. It's brighter than my other big vetiver friend Encre Noir so perfect to lift my mood.

First blind buy fail in a long time but thankfully a cheap one: Furla - Preziosa. It's a fail for me because it smells exactly like a cheaper, screechier version of Khalis - Saqr Al Emarat to my nose. No comparison on the bottle which is boredom++ versus your typical Arabic funtimes.

Blind bought this one because of the name during a lock down frenzy with zero regrets. It's weird, damp earth, green, witchy goodness.

Hbd to me for over a month ago. My husband bought me Ruth Mastenbroek - Firedance for my bday but the shop had extremely inaccurate arrival date so he bought me this one to make up for it. It does not classify as a blind buy if you ask someone else to blind buy it for you, right?

This new friend arrived today after a fun adventure across Australia and back instead of the 1 hour flight it should have taken to get to me. Etat Libre d'Orange - Une Amourette. I will do a proper test when I'm not soaked in Amouage - Memoir Man... But who the fuck writes reviews on Fragrantica?

Hey hey it's comparison day! Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Grand Soir (70 ml - $274 AUD) vs Lataffa - Eternal Oud (100ml - $75 AUD). Opening is basically the same and hard to tell apart. EO dry down is less complex and more, um, citrusy? Still bloody good. Feel less guilty about applying liberally.

Another blind buy situation of cheapo Arabic perfumes arrived yesterday. Behold these mad bottles: Ard Al Zaafran - Midnight Oud and Lataffa - Eternal Oud. Not properly tested either yet but Eternal Oud does seem extremely close to, but not as complex as, MFK - Grand Soir (that I also own).

Yesterday I checked/wore Anfasic Dokhoon - Hareer. I blind bought it ~10 years ago when I wanted to try AD - Shay but couldn't find it. It's not your usual Arabic perfume. Starts of incredibly soapy and dries to a very floral, grown up situation. Too grown up and pleasant for me. Need more funk

Today I'm giving Ajmal - Mukhallat Shams a spray. It's the wrong weather for this weapon. It needs heat to be it's best. 'How much do you want to smell like faeces?' I said to myself this morning. Not this much. Holding my nose until dry down occurs. Silly bottle of course
January 19, 2024 at 10:56 PM
Today is Ajmal - Wisal. A rosey, woody delight that comes in THE MOST terrible bottle ever. Its so unstable that it falls over if you look at it the wrong way. The cap is as loose as something very loose. Not off, thank the Almighty Bob. Behold the silliness of the bottle (that I love):
January 18, 2024 at 2:29 AM
Arabian Oud - Woody Intense. Juice isn't off but the cap seems to have degraded and is sticky. I bought this with a birthday gift voucher years ago and the rude sounding name definitely attracted me because I'm 12. Longevity could be better but it's still the oudy, ambery goodness I crave.
January 14, 2024 at 11:12 PM
Testing Arabian Oud - Hayati for offness. Not off (joy). This is glorious but longevity and sillage is disappointing. I'm too tired to describe it but just look at this bottle. There's a poem in Arabic on the back that you can see through the juice.

Comparing these two incensey friends today
November 12, 2023 at 11:33 PM
Today the postie delivered Unum - Lavs exdp that I got 50% off (aw yeah). It's intense, linear incense. I love Filippo Sorcinelli fragrances and packaging. Lavs packaging isn't quite as impressive as the Extrait De Musique line but still impressive and cool. filipposorcinelli.com/en/products/...
