I remember hearing about inflation and taxes when I was a kid and being like who cares as long as what you making is increasing? Yes, u could conceivably have more if you cut taxes and dropped prices but those are arbitrary bench marks. This was more about being easily contented than smart though.

Me too. But celebrating good news seems particularly important when most of the news is bad?

Celebration just can’t mean it’s time to stop pushing or that we are recalibrating our sense of the moment to “everything’s ok now”

Which, honestly, I don’t think many people do.

It’s a trope I was skeptical of before these maniacs showed their asses to us on social media because it’s so cliche but there they are going insane for exactly these reasons. You see it in how feral they get when contradicted. Guess what idiot it is not remarkable to suggest u are not infallible.

And inflation. And being incumbent in and anti incumbent election.

It’s wild sometimes to think about how they could just impeach him and there wouldn’t be a thing he could do about it. And defeating him that way would likely weaken his ability to get them primaried. They could just be more or less done with him.

Worlds gonna burn and we’re all gonna melt because of these dumb asses. Didn’t have to be this way but alas.

Jesus god we have to end this. We have to defeat these monsters, drive them from office.

I think there’s only players and their greatness. A player isn’t great if they don’t create wins. Just going by chips/record doesn’t account for strength of team mates.

He’s correct that the culture supporting right wing politics needs to be addressed/influenced/reshaped. It can’t just be left alone to fester in the exurbs/backwoods. He’s wrong that good faith engagement - his implicit model - will accomplish that. That’s why the right buys platforms.

Persuasion is less meaningful due to distortion of popular will present and accelerating in current institutions. Correcting that requires winning influence over said institutions and elite opinion. These are, sadly, no longer matters of democracy but working of coalitions and political psychology.

I’m not on board with radical deregulation or rule breaking - and proponents wouldn’t say that’s what they’re calling for - but the abundance critique of the regulatory regime in ca is persuasive to me. I like recent ca housing bills and putting pressure on rich cities to allow multi-unit housing.

I want people to refuse to do this shit but I guess they won’t because he’s sufficiently infested the government with his evil toadies.

What an awful moral failure. So much reporting talent, so much history but this one enormous problem destroying the legacy of that newspaper.
