It’s hard to believe the amount of pushback that exists to this concept. Part of the problem may rest with the term itself. It suggests confinement and control instead of freedom, ease of movement, and greater options. Perhaps a return to ‘small town’ language is due.
Clarendon, a neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, is a “15-minute neighborhood” — you can walk to whatever you need in 15 minutes or less. Building more such neighborhoods, proponents say, would cut pollution and conserve nature.

Exactly! It’s all a distraction. We continue to allow the 1% to sponsor weak politicians to maintain the tax structure that allows the wealthiest to get wealthier under all conditions. Eventually it will reach a breaking point if we don’t smarten up.
The culture wars, the race wars, the gender wars...all smoke screens for the war they don't want you to fight.
The class wars.

I agree, but I also want to see if it continues. Here’s the deal - I’ll stay if comments are intelligent, name calling is eliminated, sources are cited, raging is absent, and debate is open. I don’t need to agree with what’s being said- And being funny buys you some tolerance.
It’s a battle of political leverage. Who can use tariffs, retaliatory tariffs or sanctions to create more political pain for the other leader. Forcing them to capitulate or face undesired consequences.
How crazy would it be if China, Mexico and/or Canada initiated tariffs before Trump took office

Agree. The Uber rich have spent tons of money on political mouthpieces to keep poor people blaming each other for their lack of money. It’s the rich and their excessive greed that keeps the masses from thriving; always has been, still is, likely to continue unless democracy builds some controls.

The other platform had deteriorated to the point that it was exhausting to separate signal from noise and a poor return on time spent. Citizen journalism disappeared because of a total absence or understanding of ethics, journalistic standards, or objectivity. I couldn’t take it any more.

Much better signal to noise ratio on Bluesky. Signal being truth, reasonable opinions, and respectful responses. Noise being unfounded ‘facts’, extreme bluster, name calling, and lack of perspective.
