After Robert Lackner's fascinating talk on 'Austrian Refugees in the British Army' at the Austrian Cultural Forum in London, it was excellent to be in conversation with him about his research project and the complexities of wartime British-Austrian relations.

After first crossing paths with @leighturnerwriter.bsky.social while he was still UK ambassador in Vienna and I was writing about his predecessor in the 1930s for my PhD, it was so good to have him at Radley to speak with our students last night. Check out his new memoir, 'Lessons in Diplomacy'!

'On Tyranny' by @timothysnyder.bsky.social changed my life when I read it as a History graduate student. I've since read and discussed it each year with my own students. It awakens you and stirs you into action.

Incredibly exciting news out of @bmeia.gv.at! A new research project investigating members of the Austrian Foreign Ministry during the Nazi era, 1938-45, and after. Did they resist, or take up a Nazi commission? Were they persecuted, or persecutors?
