I saw #StarWars Episode IV: A New Hope live at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Friday night; it was fantastic, as expected, and I finally got to hear “Binary Sunset” live. 😮‍💨

I watched #Flow the other night and rather enjoyed it; a very beautiful movie that enthralled me pretty much the whole way through.

I’m currently reading the first “He Who Fights With Monsters” by Travis Deverell, and am thoroughly enjoying it. I don’t usually go for fantasy, Discworld aside, but will make an exception for a bit of humour.

My brother and I went to see “How To Train Your Dragon“ live at #BirminghamSymphonyHall last night, and it was absolutely bloody fantastic!

When the credits finished, the conductor and orchestra took their bows, and we gave them a five minute standing ovation.

I’ve been wearing nail varnish on my right hand for around 11 years, and on Friday I got my first non-sarcastic, non-trying-to-embarrass-me compliment from one of my brothers. “That’s a nice colour; I think the matte matches your ring well.”

Wonders will never cease.

Started reading “All Systems Red“ by @marthawells.com last night (after @penguin-ponders.bsky.social’s recommendation) and ended up reading until 2am this morning; got about halfway through, which is an achievement for me as I’m a slow reader, and I can’t wait to read the rest.

Nice to see that #O2 are dragging their network kicking and screaming into 2003 and beyond.

Someone has added “lyrics“ to the Jaws theme tune in Apple Music.

One of the regular side-effects of my #ADHD is remembering that I need to do something but forgetting that I have already done it, usually multiple times. Exhibit A: the contents of my bathroom cabinet after thinking, a month ago, “I must buy shower gel and body cream.”

Finished Iain M Banks’ “Against a Dark Background” and onto “Inversions” next.

Went to see “The Shark is Broken“ (a dramatisation of the behind-the-scenes drama during the filming of Jaws) at Malvern Theatre yesterday. It was pretty good.

The set was the boat orca with a section cut away so we could see the interior.

Also, Robert Shaw was played by his his actual son.

A cousin always visits around Christmastime and brings me a bottle of gin; this year it was Aldi's with pomegranate, cranberry, and gold flakes.

I went to see Murder on the Orient Express at Malvern Theatre. The play was fantastic, and they had a train courage photo booth in the lobby; I had to do it!

I went to Jane's Pantry for lunch and the friendly waitress who always gives me special treatment gave me a double portion for my French toast. I think I should propose next time I see her.

As I was exiting the Brewhouse & Kitchen in Gloucester Quays, I saw a longboat turning round in the river. This gorgeous cocker spaniel was standing on top, and the man handling the rudder was happy for me to snap a photo:
