I have not had many days like this since surrendering to Jesus in my early 20’s but I value this stark transparency of George MacDonald in his poem written for Feb 9. (From “The Diary of an Old Soul”.

I am thoroughly enjoying reading the prayers in this book. Today: “Behold, Lord, I am an empty vessel that needs to be filled. Oh Lord, fill me. I am weak in the faith; strengthen me. I am cold in love; warm me to the point of zeal so that my love may reach my neighbour.” Martin Luther.
