That's probably because they have not been threatened with violence if they weren't perfect. America is still new to being a dictatorship, and the fear of the leader hasn't fully seeped into all layers of society yet.

Not surprising given that Trump and the people behind him are fundamentally opposed to facts in general. Why waste money on finding facts when reality can be made up on the spot for a fraction of the cost?
