🍽️ With less of their preferred dietary corals around, corallivores swam further to find food, holding larger territories with lower population density.
💡Restored reefs recovered coral cover and some fish populations within 5 years, but not coral diversity and all fish populations.

🐡 Corallivorous fish had 𝘯𝘰𝘵 recovered to the same extent - there were more corallivores than on degraded reefs, but still only 𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘧 as many as on healthy reefs.
📊 This is likely to do with coral 𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 - the preferred diets of corallivores were corals that were rare on restored reefs.

We surveyed corals and fishes on recently restored coral reefs (~5 yrs old), and found that...
🪸 Coral cover had recovered to approx. healthy levels
🐠 Some fish groups (herbivores, planktivores, omnivores) had also recovered to approx. healthy levels
