One of the greatest pleasures of reading is annotating your book. Note what you think important. Poetry or prose, it doesn’t matter. Your close reading may help you see meaning you wouldn’t have otherwise noticed or reveal details like foreshadowing. Pick up that pencil and mark away!

There is something deeply satisfying about annotating a book with your own notes, thoughts, discovering for yourself the intricacies of a written passage, explicating for no one but yourself.

Took time off and spent last week refinishing our kitchen cabinets. Underestimated the time it was going to take, which is a flaw I’ve. Never really overcome. Ambitious project, even more ambitious deadline? Let’s do it! Speaking of, I have 130 captions I need to write today. Best get to it!
