I mean, what do they really, as actual human beings, think government is even for? Why did they even go into politics anyway? Are their loved ones proud of them? Can they comfortably look in the mirror? What, to them, is the actual point of all this?

Never actually felt personally hurt by a government in this way before. I mean, I always expected heartlessness from the other lot, it’s baked in, and became almost cheered by the increasingly comical incompetence as it assured a changing of the guard. But this unending friendly fire is the worst.
