Well Daybreak 2 is just the writers having stupid fun. Beyond the Horizon is when they lock in completely and it's great.

Trails is one of the few JRPG series that I can think of that has had genuinely good plot twists.

What issues do you have with the series?
The games are told well, it integrates its world and characters expertly and the foreshadowing & payoffs are masterclass, but they're repetitive in tropes and structure making the experience of playing exhausting.

Honestly the series has an up and down quality post CS arc. Reverie and Daybreak are great, but Daybreak 2 is considered to be the worst entry in the series.
It doesn't break any of its lore or overarching narrative, but it gets repetitive. And I feel like this is an issue with Trails.

CS1 and CS3 are set in school. Majority of the series doesn't set in school.
