Republicans are ruining the economy. Democrats are missing an opportunity to message on this as vigorously as Republicans do when Democrats are in charge.

The Republicans want a civil war so they have an excuse to cancel elections while they control all three branches and government and both houses of Congress. They want to solidify their power and usher in the first American dictatorship.

So would the invasion of Chicago finally trigger a Civil War, or are folks just going to let that happen too? If so, where’s the line? I’m actually asking because it seems like we’re pussies just letting 🍊grab us.

Trump today: "I'm surprised he [Jerome Powell] was appointed. I'm surprised frankly that Biden put him in."

Trump in November 2017: "It is my pleasure and my honour to announce my nomination of Jerome Powell to be the next chairman of the Federal Reserve."

The Club World Cup should be a bigger deal than the World Cup. The Club World Cup is the best individual club in the world. That’s crazy. There are a lot of clubs in this world, and the winner of that trophy is THE best.

In two weeks Republicans went from demands to release the files to protecting the philes. These people are evil.

With the SNAP cuts, did they just guarantee that Mamdani’s grocery stores will be a success?

I never before believed in a balanced US budget. I’ve been converted. We need balance through MASSIVE tax hikes on the wealthy + corporations, & nationalizing all natural resources. The revenue from resources should go into a sovereign wealth fund, the returns from which should feed the Treasury.

Merge Medicaid into Medicare, give Medicare to all people 18 and younger, then each year increase the age at which young people are covered and lower the age at which old people are covered by 1 year until everyone is covered.

Move SNAP under Social Security, turn it into cash, give it to everyone unconditionally, raise the level each year until it reaches 150% of the poverty level, then increase it annually at the rate of inflation.

The next Democratic President must pummel the Republican Party out of existence, lest this all happens again.

Justin Wolfers articulated my opinion so well. I’m not pro business, I’m pro markets. It’s about policies that help makes thrive. This often involves breaking up large businesses to ensure that there is competition and other such policies.

While I hate the Republican trade policies and what they’ve done to America, it feels so wrong to me that they’re backing off.

It means we got all of this damage for LITERALLY nothing.

I think if we wanted to boil down to a single success metric for national public policy, at the moment that should be the level of consumer debt.

That is a very information dense metric that speaks to wages, prices, and spending support via things like public transit & medicare expansions.

Consumer debt is one of the biggest epidemics that nobody is talking about.

Funny how northerners (who are more leftist) prefer pro sports which is run by capitalists, while southerners (who are more rightist) prefer college sports which is mostly government run.

Is anyone else starting to think Trump might actually get pushed to resign?

Idk, my bad knees are telling me the air is changing in some way.

72M Americans rely on Medicaid. 41% of US births are paid for by Medicaid. Medicaid is nursing home care primary payer, affecting patients & their adult children. Estimated 36M could lose healthcare coverage as a result of the Republican bill. Protest!
Let's show up. Let's organize. Let's win.
