The Republicans want a civil war so they have an excuse to cancel elections while they control all three branches and government and both houses of Congress. They want to solidify their power and usher in the first American dictatorship.

I never before believed in a balanced US budget. I’ve been converted. We need balance through MASSIVE tax hikes on the wealthy + corporations, & nationalizing all natural resources. The revenue from resources should go into a sovereign wealth fund, the returns from which should feed the Treasury.

Merge Medicaid into Medicare, give Medicare to all people 18 and younger, then each year increase the age at which young people are covered and lower the age at which old people are covered by 1 year until everyone is covered.

Move SNAP under Social Security, turn it into cash, give it to everyone unconditionally, raise the level each year until it reaches 150% of the poverty level, then increase it annually at the rate of inflation.

Justin Wolfers articulated my opinion so well. I’m not pro business, I’m pro markets. It’s about policies that help makes thrive. This often involves breaking up large businesses to ensure that there is competition and other such policies.

While I hate the Republican trade policies and what they’ve done to America, it feels so wrong to me that they’re backing off.

I think if we wanted to boil down to a single success metric for national public policy, at the moment that should be the level of consumer debt.
That is a very information dense metric that speaks to wages, prices, and spending support via things like public transit & medicare expansions.
