As a Columbia Ph.D. and current faculty member, this would be very disappointing. As a researcher on autocracy, not challenging these charges in court and in public opinion would be a grave mistake.

For new followers, here is some of my recent work on how Trump supporters responded to the insurrection of January 6th in real time. Sharp disapproval in the short-run, but it didn't last. Also a piece on public support for aid to Ukraine. Dems moved by normative appeals, Reps by a Trump appeal.
