Taking a break from DS9 to watch Strange New Worlds. Really good show so far. Just finished Season 1 Episode 9 and am rewatching Balance of Terror before I watch the season finale.

I can’t believe that we have a literal fascist as the president of the United States. The good news is that fascism always fails. Bad news is that it always fails rather explosively.

I’m sick

Season 1 may’ve been weaker than the rest of the series, but it’s also pretty much the lowest this show gets. That says a lot, I think. I think it’s biggest issue is that it’s not taking full advantage of the concept, which is also my issue with Voyager.

6/10, needs more Duet

“In The Hands of the Prophets” is a great finale. It wraps up the themes and character arcs of the season really well, telling a really thoughtful and tense story at the same time. It also introduces one of the best villains in sci-fi.

8/10, Pope Ratched scsres me

“Duet” is the best episode of season 1 and is among the best of the entire show. It’s a brilliant character piece with the lowest stakes of the entire season, and yet it manages to keep the attention of the audience throughout its entire run.

10/10, No more Duet jokes

“Dramatis Personae” gets a lot of hate, but I’ve always enjoyed it quite a bit. Sure, it’s a flawed story, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

6/10, You’ll never believe it, but Duet is next

“The Foresaken” surprised me. I generally don’t like Lwaxana episodes, but this one was pretty enjoyable. Not a series highlight, but definitely on the upper end of season 1.

7/10, rapidly approaching Duet

“If Wishes Were Horses” is a fine enough episode, but it doesn’t stand out at all. Hell, I barely remembered it and this is my third rewatch. It continues to characterize Bashir as a bit of a sex pest for no particular reason.

5/10, This Duet bit is getting annoying

“Progress” is a really weird episode. I think it’d work a lot better is Mullibok wasn’t such an asshole throughout the entire episode. I get he’s supposed to be a lovable sarcastic old man, but he just comes across as a selfish dick.

5/10, I need to come up with a post-duet joke

@jessiegender.bsky.social I was kinda floored to see one of my favorite youtubers was following my summer job. (I’m referring to the Star Trek set in Ticonderoga)

“The Storyteller” is boring.

3/10, I don’t know what I’m gonna put here once I reach Duet

Eric Adams is unbelievable. The fact that he’s being endorsed by the ICE director tells you all you need to know.
Acting ICE director Tom Homan on NYC mayor Eric Adams:

"I tell you, when I sat down with him, I saw the cop in him. And he really does want to do the right thing, 'cause he is a cop. He's a lifelong cop."

“Battle Lines” is a really solid episode that paves the way for the most hate-able character in fiction. My only disappointment is that we didn’t get to see more of Kai Opaka before this.

8/10, Duet grows ever closer

“Vortex” is a highlight of the season so far. A really heartfelt story focusing on Odo and a prisoner who lies to him about changelings.

7/10, Duet approaches

“The Nagus” is a great start to the ferengi episodes of DS9. Not quite as good as the best of that particular string of episodes, but it works really well for what it is.

8/10, I still want to watch Duet

“Move Along Home” was dumb but I had a smile on my face the entire time. Definitely the Star Trek V of DS9 episodes. Pretty bad, but in a really entertaining way.

3/10, I’m running out of ways to beg for Duet

Holy shit it’s Move Along Home time let’s fucking go

“The Passenger” is very average. Siddig’s acting as Vantika was the highlight of the episode.

5/10, give Duet pleas

#ds9 #startrek

“Dax” is an above-average episode by season one standards. I think the twist at the very end was a little heavy-handed, but relatively surprising. I am a little let down by the fact that it didn’t seem to fully commit to the pretty interesting concept.

6/10, Duet seems so far away

I know a lot about watergate. More than most, I think. What’s going on with Eric Adams right now is eerily similar. Frankly, we got lucky with Watergate. I’m not so sure we’ll be so lucky again.
February 15, 2025 at 2:49 AM
“Q-Less” is really bad but Watergate got mentioned at the end.

10/10, needs more watergate

Honest review: It’s a pretty bad episode, but John Delancie is giving the poor script his all, so it’s at least somewhat entertaining.

4/10, Duet Duet Duet

“Captive Pursuit” was an overall fun episode. A simple plot, but it’s a good O’Brien episode before the “O’Brien must suffer” trope. Tosk is pretty likeable and the aliens chasing him are pretty unlikeable.

7/10, where’s Duet?
